In addressing the systemic causes of conflict, they are agents of social transformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, despite their fundamental role for peace and justice, they constitute a group that is often criminalized and subjected to all kinds of threats and attacks, including assassinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Within the framework of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipb2021.barcelona\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">World Peace Congress<\/a>, ICIP and the Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation (ACCD), on behalf of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ciutatsdretshumans.cat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cities Defending Human Rights<\/a>, will hold a workshop on Sunday 17 October that will explore <strong>the multiple connections between defending human rights and building peace.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This workshop will discuss tools and strategies to respond to the needs and risks of human rights defenders.\u00a0Several Catalan programs and initiatives to support human rights defenders and the important work they do will also be presented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Panelists:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Czarina Musni<\/strong>, National Union of Peoples\u2019 Lawyers, Philippines<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Victor Ochen<\/strong>, African Youth Initiative Network, Uganda<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Sahar Francis<\/strong>, Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, Palestine<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>S\u00edlvia Juventeny<\/strong>, Catalan Refugee Aid Commission<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This workshop is part of the program of the World Peace Congress, which will be held in Barcelona from 15-17 October.\u00a0Registration for the Congress, which is free, is required to attend the workshop or to follow it online. \u00a0You can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipb2021.barcelona\/register\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">register here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":20914,"template":"","class_list":["post-22909","icip_event","type-icip_event","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.6 -
