On 15 and 16 January 2025, the World Congress on Enforced Disappearances<\/a><\/strong> will be held in Geneva, Switzerland, organized by the CEDI<\/a> (Convention on Enforced Disappearances Initiative), the United Nations Committee on Enforced Disappearances, the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances, and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Congress will bring together civil society organizations, including family associations, States, international organizations and experts, with the aim of agreeing on a common strategy and action plan to promote the ratification and implementation of the Convention against Enforced Disappearances and facilitate intergovernmental dialogue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event has the support and participation of the ICIP<\/strong>, which will organize a round table focused on enforced disappearances from a gender perspective with the interventions of four women relatives of disappeared persons. This session will be followed by zoom and aims to analyse the impacts of disappearances on women, share experiences and good practices in the search for missing people and highlight the relationship between the search and peacebuilding. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participation of the ICIP in the Geneva Congress is part of its thematic line on “Enforced Disappearances<\/a>” which aims to deepen the conceptualization of the link between the fight against enforced disappearances and peacebuilding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
