From 2-5 June<\/strong>, Barcelona will host the International Conference \u201cDrug policy, human rights and global co-responsibility<\/a><\/u><\/strong>,\u201d organized by the Taula Catalana Platform for Peace and Human Rights in Colombia, of which ICIP is an observing institution. The Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation and the Barcelona City Council also support this event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference aims to address the drug policy debate from a human rights and peacebuilding perspective, steering away from prohibitionist and punitive approaches.\u00a0Over four days, participants will debate and formulate proposals to promote changes in international legislation and tackle violence stemming from drug trafficking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference will feature over twenty experts, researchers, organizational leaders, representatives of growers\u2019 associations, spokespeople for drug user organizations, legal professionals, and human rights defenders from Colombia and Catalonia, as well as from Mexico, Bolivia, Peru, Argentina, the United States, Spain and Portugal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference will be conducted internally for three days, with results shared at a public event on Thursday, 5 June, at 5:30 pm at the MACBA auditorium<\/strong>.\u00a0This event will feature the participation of some of the conference speakers.\u00a0 Attendees must register in advance (the registration form will be published on the website of the Taula Catalana Platform for Peace and Human Rights in Colombia).\u00a0The event will also be livestreamed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
