{"id":64915,"date":"2026-08-03T12:47:06","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T12:47:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.icip.cat\/event\/projeccio-damazomania-i-colloqui\/"},"modified":"2026-08-05T08:22:05","modified_gmt":"2026-08-05T08:22:05","slug":"docs-del-mes-screening-of-amazomania-and-discussion","status":"publish","type":"icip_event","link":"https:\/\/www.icip.cat\/en\/event\/docs-del-mes-screening-of-amazomania-and-discussion\/","title":{"rendered":"Docs del Mes: Screening of Amazomania and discussion"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ICIP is taking part in a new session of the <a href=\"https:\/\/docsdelmes.com\/es\/proyecciones-docs-del-mes\/\">Docs del Mes<\/a> series with the screening of <em>Amazomania<\/em>, by Swedish director Nathan Grossman, winner of the Best Film Award at DocsBarcelona 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The documentary revisits a 1996 expedition to film the indigenous Korubo community in the Brazilian Amazon. Through archive footage and a critical reading of its meaning, <em>Amazomania<\/em> questions the colonial legacy, the Western representation of indigenous peoples and the consequences of the exploitation of Amazonian territories. The film invites reflection on indigenous peoples&#8217; rights, the preservation of the Amazon rainforest and our responsibility for the narratives we build about otherness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The screening will be followed by a discussion exploring the main issues raised by the documentary, with Xavier Gir\u00f3, journalist and retired lecturer at the Faculty of Communication Sciences of the Universitat Aut\u00f2noma de Barcelona (UAB) and a specialist in conflict coverage and peace journalism, together with a representative of AlterNativa \u2013 Intercanvi amb Pobles Ind\u00edgenes, an organisation working for indigenous peoples&#8217; right to their own means of communication and on the analysis of the impacts of contact with peoples living in isolation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The discussion is held in collaboration with ICIP and will offer a space for debate with the audience on the challenges posed by the film.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Date:<\/strong> 10 September 2026<br><strong>Time:<\/strong> 8.30 p.m.<br><strong>Venue:<\/strong> Renoir Floridablanca cinema (Barcelona)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tickets are available through the Docs del Mes website.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":64716,"template":"","class_list":["post-64915","icip_event","type-icip_event","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.1 -
