The ICIP Alfons Banda Award aims to reward the work of students in the second cycle of Compulsory Secondary Education<\/strong> (ESO) and post-compulsory education<\/strong> (baccalaureate and intermediate and higher-level training cycles) that promote the analysis and obtaining of results in the theoretical field of the construction of a culture of peace or the practical application of non-violent management of conflicts.<\/p>

The award is part of the Young Research Awards<\/strong> convened by the Agency for the Management of University and Research Grants (AGAUR) to promote the scientific spirit of young people. The ICIP participated for the first time in 2017 with the selection of the two best works in peacebuilding, which will be awarded 850 euros each.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

When we talk about a culture of peace, we refer to a set of values, attitudes, behaviours and practices that promote nonviolent conflict resolution, respect for human rights, social justice and coexistence in diversity.<\/p>

The culture of peace involves a way of thinking and acting that puts cooperation, dialogue and empathy at the centre as tools to build fairer and more peaceful societies.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

    The culture of peace is not only a theoretical idea, but a way to face the challenges and conflicts of everyday life, from school situations to global challenges. Here are some examples of how it can be applied:<\/p>

    At school:<\/strong> The culture of peace helps us to solve misunderstandings or conflicts between students, fostering dialogue, mediation and mutual understanding.<\/p>

    In society:<\/strong> In different neighbourhoods and communities, the culture of peace invites us to live together while respecting cultural, religious, ethnic or opinion differences.<\/p>

    In the world:<\/strong> At an international level, the culture of peace involves reflecting on violence, armed conflicts, disarmament or climate justice. Working for the reduction of nuclear weapons, promoting agreements for the protection of the environment and combating global inequalities are examples of necessary actions.<\/p>

    The culture of peace is a conscious commitment to replace violence with understanding and collaboration. It is not only the absence of war, but the active construction of conditions that allow fair, solidarity and sustainable coexistence.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
