BCN4Peace is an initiative that helps strengthen Barcelona’s role as a city committed to peace, human rights, and global justice. It was created to promote joint actions that contribute to preventing conflict, advancing the peaceful resolution of disputes, and defending human rights in the face of today’s major global challenges.<\/p>

In an international context marked by the rise of armed conflicts, militarisation, polarisation, and the erosion of fundamental rights, BCN4Peace seeks to build alliances, generate knowledge, and promote alternatives based on dialogue, cooperation, and nonviolence. The initiative brings together organisations, institutions, and individuals who share a commitment to building more just, inclusive, and peaceful societies.<\/p>

Through awareness-raising activities, public debates, advocacy initiatives, and collaborative processes, BCN4Peace promotes projects that foster a culture of peace, encourage civic participation, and highlight the many initiatives working for peace in Barcelona, both locally and internationally.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

BCN4Peace is an initiative led by the ICIP (International Catalan Institute for Peace), the Centre Del\u00e0s for Peace Studies<\/a>, and NOVACT \u2013 International Institute for Nonviolent Action<\/a>, with the support and participation of the Global Justice Department of Barcelona City Council<\/a>.<\/p>

The partner organisations have extensive experience in peace research, policy advocacy, nonviolent conflict transformation, and the promotion of human rights. They share a commitment to strengthening Barcelona’s role as a city of peace and creating collaborative spaces to address today’s global challenges.<\/p>

The participation of Barcelona City Council’s Global Justice Department reinforces BCN4Peace’s city-wide dimension and its commitment to promoting peace, defending human rights, and advancing global justice as central pillars of public policy.<\/p>

The initiative has been conceived with the clear intention of welcoming new partners and serving as an open platform for collaboration among civil society organisations, public institutions, research centres, and other initiatives committed to peacebuilding.<\/p>

BCN4Peace aims to become a meeting point for developing joint initiatives, sharing experiences, and strengthening the collective advocacy capacity of Barcelona’s peace ecosystem.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

BCN4Peace promotes and connects initiatives that place peace, human rights, and global justice at the centre of public debate. By bringing together organisations, public institutions, experts, and citizens, the initiative creates opportunities for reflection, participation, and collective action.<\/p>

Generating Debate and Knowledge<\/h3>

We organise dialogue spaces, public events, and discussions to analyse current conflicts, share knowledge, and encourage critical reflection on the challenges related to peace and security.<\/p>

We promote initiatives that bring a culture of peace closer to the public and highlight alternatives based on cooperation, human rights, and the nonviolent resolution of conflicts.<\/p>

Connecting Stakeholders and Strengthening Partnerships<\/h3>

We facilitate collaboration among civil society organisations, public institutions, research centres, and other actors committed to peacebuilding, creating networks and new opportunities for joint action.<\/p>

BCN4Peace supports and gives visibility to initiatives that reflect Barcelona’s commitment to peace and human rights.<\/p>

No War, No Kings<\/h3>

On 27 May 2026, Barcelona’s Hub Social hosted the event “No War, No Tyrants: Rethinking Power and Peace in Times of Conflict”<\/strong>, an international forum organised by NOVACT, the ICIP, and the Centre Del\u00e0s for Peace Studies.<\/p>

At a time marked by growing militarisation, the spread of pro-war narratives, and the rise of authoritarian trends around the world, the event created a space to reflect on civil resistance, the defence of democracy, and the development of political alternatives based on peace and nonviolence.<\/p>

The event featured internationally renowned speakers, including academic and activist john a. powell<\/strong>, from the University of California, Berkeley, and Sanam Naraghi-Anderlini<\/strong>, an expert in peacebuilding and women’s participation in conflict prevention. They shared their perspectives on today’s challenges related to power, authoritarianism, and social responses to violence.<\/p>

No War, No Kings<\/strong> highlighted the need to create collective spaces for reflection and action in order to imagine new models of coexistence, governance, and security grounded in justice, human rights, and a culture of peace.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
