{"id":22899,"date":"2021-10-11T09:06:09","date_gmt":"2021-10-11T09:06:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.icip.cat\/licip-presenta-dues-cancons-compostes-per-un-grup-de-victimes-del-conflicte-a-colombia-i-la-cantautora-marta-gomez\/"},"modified":"2021-10-11T09:14:49","modified_gmt":"2021-10-11T09:14:49","slug":"licip-presenta-dues-cancons-compostes-per-un-grup-de-victimes-del-conflicte-a-colombia-i-la-cantautora-marta-gomez","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.icip.cat\/en\/licip-presenta-dues-cancons-compostes-per-un-grup-de-victimes-del-conflicte-a-colombia-i-la-cantautora-marta-gomez\/","title":{"rendered":"ICIP presents two songs composed by a group of victims of the Colombian conflict and singer-songwriter Marta G\u00f3mez"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>ICIP has released two songs composed by 120 victims who left Colombia because of the armed conflict, and the Colombian singer-songwriter based in Barcelona, Marta G\u00f3mez.&nbsp;This innovative initiative of citizen participation was promoted by the Truth Commission of Colombia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The proposal for this project came from the Catalunya Node, a meeting and coordination space for organizations that support the work of the Commission.&nbsp;The Node has led the task of taking 120 testimonies from victims of the conflict living in Catalonia (out of more than a thousand interviews that have been conducted worldwide).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is essential to accompany the victim interviews with psychosocial support measures; that is why we decided to organize these workshops.&nbsp;We wanted to turn emotions and experiences into music with the aim of strengthening healing through an artistic exercise,\u201d explains Helga Flamtermesky, one of the Catalunya Node interviewers. \u201cArt is a great tool to process traumatic events such as exile and migration,\u201d says ICIP member Ana Isabel Barrera.&nbsp;\u201cDuring the interviews, we realized that people not only talked about what they felt living outside of Colombia, but also asked questions about the country,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Two songs, two audiovisuals<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This observation inspired the creation of <strong>two songs<\/strong> that complement each other. The first one, <strong>\u201cSurcos de amor,\u201d<\/strong> talks about the relationship that the victims have with Colombia in their imagination.\u00a0The second one, <strong>\u201cVuelve,\u201d <\/strong>is intended as a symbolic response from Colombia to the victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube aligncenter wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Marta G\u00f3mez - Vuelve\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/VLhrg4gS4Eg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The songs are performed by the Colombian singer-songwriter based in Catalonia, Marta G\u00f3mez.&nbsp;The artist was one of the people in charge of leading the workshops that she remembers in a very special way:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe workshops were a gift to my soul.&nbsp;At first I thought it would be very difficult to try to compose a song with people who had never written one, but it ended up being a magical experience,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn the end, all those people who told me shyly at the beginning of the workshop that they wouldn\u2019t know what to say ended up becoming creative writers, capable of expressing everything they had experienced and suffered through, turning it into poetry,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two songs that were created will be published on Spotify, in an EP entitled \u201cCanciones de ida y vuelta.\u201d&nbsp;But the process has also resulted in two audiovisual products: a documentary and a music video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The producer, Iv\u00e1n Guarnizo, has recorded the creative process of producing the songs in a <strong>short documentary<\/strong> entitled <strong>\u201cTejiendo canciones.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong> About this process he says: \u201cThe documentary is about a collective creative process.\u00a0We witness how the participants get to know each other and, together, weave the song until the singer-songwriter records it in a studio.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube aligncenter wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Tejiendo canciones - Surcos de amor\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SRJuKTCiOvs?start=16&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, Karolina Villarraga, of the MicuFilm production company, won a public competition to produce a music video for \u201cVuelve.\u201d&nbsp;She decided to film an animated video starring a masked mother bear and her bear cub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe chose the masked bear, an emblematic animal of Colombia, as a symbolic character and protagonist of the narrative, bearing in mind that the armed conflict also affects the environment,\u201d explains the person in charge of the music video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two songs, the documentary and the music video were presented on 17 September at 8pm in an online event where the artists talked about the creative process.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ICIP has released two songs composed by 120 victims who left Colombia because of the armed conflict, and the Colombian singer-songwriter based in Barcelona, Marta G\u00f3mez.&nbsp;This innovative initiative of citizen participation was promoted by the Truth Commission of Colombia.
