{"id":33477,"date":"2022-11-04T12:31:32","date_gmt":"2022-11-04T12:31:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.icip.cat\/exits-i-reptes-per-a-la-construccio-de-pau-al-pais-basc\/"},"modified":"2022-11-04T12:34:05","modified_gmt":"2022-11-04T12:34:05","slug":"successes-and-challenges-for-peacebuilding-in-the-basque-country","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.icip.cat\/en\/successes-and-challenges-for-peacebuilding-in-the-basque-country\/","title":{"rendered":"Successes and challenges for peacebuilding in the Basque Country"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Eleven years after the International Conference of Aiete, which led to the definitive end of ETA violence and the beginning of a new era in the Basque Country, Basque society still faces pending challenges for the achievement of a complete peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These challenges include the creation of a common, inclusive and social memory to explain the Basque conflict to future generations, the recognition and honoring of all the victims of violence, the promotion of new spaces for dialogue and trust among people with different sensibilities, and the processes of healing wounds that remain open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the conferral of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.icip.cat\/en\/the-associative-network-of-the-basque-country-receives-the-icip-award-for-its-discreet-but-essential-work-for-peace\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong><u>ICIP Peace in Progress Award 2022<\/u><\/strong> <\/a>to the Basque Country\u2019s associative network in favor of peace, ICIP has produced a video featuring the voices of some of the award-winning organizations in order to highlight the successes achieved so far and the challenges that still remain on the road to peace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants include <strong>Aitziber Blanco<\/strong> (Foro Ciudadano Donostia), <strong>Agus Hern\u00e1n<\/strong> (Permanent Social Forum), <strong>Maider Mara\u00f1a<\/strong> (Baketik Foundation), <strong>Mar\u00eda Oianguren <\/strong>(Gernika Gogoratuz), <strong>I\u00f1igo Retolaza<\/strong> (MemoriaLab program) and <strong>Paul R\u00edos<\/strong> (Elkarri\/Lokarri).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed aligncenter is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"\u00c8xits i reptes en el proc\u00e9s de construcci\u00f3 de pau al Pa\u00eds Basc\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Dfcda5rqaeY?start=1&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Eleven years after the International Conference of Aiete, which led to the definitive end of ETA violence and the beginning of a new era in the Basque Country, Basque society still faces pending challenges for the achievement of a complete peace.
