ICIP Commitments on the International Day of Peace
Over the next year, the ICIP undertakes to work in three areas, based on the slogan "Tools for peace": fulfilment of the UN's Millennium Goals, monitoring of the debate, development and impact of instruments for the construction of peace and prevention conflicts, and the increase in the tools for peace currently offered by the ICIP, including observatories, journals, websites and books. These commitments were announced on 21 September, the International Day of Peace, in the declaration by the president of the ICIP, Rafael Grasa.
The declaration also condemned the increase in international spending on armaments by 5.9% to 1,500 million dollars, despite the economic crisis, and the ongoing existence of 7,500 operative nuclear warheads in the world.
