About Us

The International Catalan Institute for Peace is a public and independent institution created by the Parliament of Catalonia in 2007 to promote a culture of peace within Catalan society and internationally, and to ensure that Catalonia plays an active role as a peace actor in the world.

ICIP is an autonomous body with its own legal personality. It provides services to public administrations, academia and civil society, and is accountable to the Parliament, the Government and society as a whole.

To engage with the widest possible geographical and thematic diversity, ICIP is structured around four areas of work and five cross-cutting lines of action: awards, grants, publications, strategic partnerships and communication.

ICIP’s mandate and methodology, as well as its strategic priorities and future outlook, are set out in the 2024–2028 Strategic Plan.
